Fiona Duffy is a partner in Patrick F. O’Reilly and Company Solicitors in Dublin. She has more than 30 years’ experience working in Litigation. She is a member and former chair of the Litigation Committee of the Law Society of Ireland. She served as a member of the Circuit Court Rules Committee, from 2011-2021. She also served as a member of the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal for 10 years.
Fiona has vast experience and knowledge of the law relating to AHR, Fertility Treatment, including Donor Conception and Surrogacy. She served on the Ethics Committee of one of the largest maternity hospitals in Dublin for over 15 years. She was also legal adviser and member of a University College Dublin working group established to advise the College Research and Ethics Committee on policy relating to Regenerative Medicine and Research. She is a board member of Merrion Fertility Clinic in Dublin. She is also a member of the UK and Ireland LGBT Family Law Institute and an LGBT Ireland representative on the recently formed AHR Coalition Legal Working Group tasked with driving forward the establishment of a legislative framework for AHR including surrogacy in Ireland. Fiona has just been admitted as a Fellow of the Academy of Adoption and Assisted Human Reproduction Attorneys (AAAA).
Fiona has advised clients on Irish law relating to AHR, donor conception and Surrogacy undertaken in Ireland, Ukraine, India, USA, Canada, UK, Brazil, Thailand. She has represented clients in obtaining Declaration of Parentage Orders, Guardianship Orders, Custody Orders, Passport Orders and in Adoption related matters.
